2018
Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep impress as Washington Post bigwigs fighting to expose government lies about the Vietnam war in Steven Speilberg's timely drama.
Brilliantly imaginative stop-motion-animated film from Wes Anderson about government manipulation over an outbreak of canine flu in Japan.
An unforgettable and beautiful film by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei about our planet's refugee crisis.
Supper and Film - all profits to local refugee charity
A drama set in 1946 about a letter from a member of a mysterious literary club started in Nazi-occupied Guernsey.
Edie (Sheila Hancock) has dutifully nursed her husband George for 30 years following a stroke. Now that George has passed on, she wants to fulfill a lifelong wish to climb Suilven in the Scottish Highlands. Edie still keeps the old postcard that her father sent many years before after he had made the climb. The affectionate, pithy wording had urged her to climb the mountain herself. A tale of optimism and determination.
2019
A gothic romance, a tale of lost mothers and broken spells, with a swooning score, crisp visuals and paper-cut-sharp performances combine to conjure a poisoned rose of a movie, inviting you to prick your finger on its thorns and succumb to its darkness. (The Guardian) Starring Daniel Day Lewis.
The film earned Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor.
Beautiful, sundrenched romance directed by Luca Guadagnino (A Bigger Splash), chronicling the affair a teenager (Timothée Chalamet) and a visiting American grad student (Armie Hammer) in 1980s Italy. One of the best reviewed films last year and it gained Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Best Screenplay.
Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf are electric as a warring daughter and mother in Greta Gerwig's beautifully observed comedy-drama. A magical portrait of adolescence.
The programme may be changed at short notice, if there are circumstances beyond our control.
