Synopsis

Hammer horror, Jaws, Sleepy Hollow, The Matrix, Crouching Tiger...are all distilled, and largely outdone, in this tale of the Beast of GĂ©vaudan in pre-Revolutionary south-western France. The rationality of the Enlightenment confronts local irrationality and atavistic cruelty in this extraordinarily exuberant, swashbuckling drama.
