Flickerman & the Ivory Skinned Woman
Dir: Ian Fenton 2002 UK 12mins

In a world ruled by fear and oppression, a simple smile of recognition can go a long, long way. A series of unusual exchanges between two reclusive residents in a rundown tenement building leads to an unexpected union…

As a write and director, Ian Fenton has won awards at the San Francisco International Film Festival, British Short Film Festival, and Royal Television Society. He is currently developing his first feature project, Dead Collectors.

Tattoo
Dir: Jules Williamson 2001 UK 17mins
An extraordinary film debut, Tattoo is a very big small film, shot on epic romantic scale (beautiful cinematography by Daf Hobson whose feature credits include Welcome To Sarajevo). The story follows the return of a prodigal son for the funeral of his tattoo-artist father and how he comes to terms with the past he left behind and to which he owes his present. Tattoo was runner up at the Edinburgh Film Festival and is now include in the official selection for nomination at the 2003 Oscars.

Field
Dir: Duane Hopkins 2001 UK 10mins

Field has won more international festival awards than most of us have had hot dinners and it is easy to see why. This is a compelling portrait of teenage frustration and the consequences of actions born out of the isolation and boredom of modern rural life. It is beautifully paced and composed as it follows three kids "entertaining" themselves one summer afternoon. Gradually their games extend and twist, both logically and illogically, but with frightening familiarity, into one chilling moment of madness.

Danny & His Amazing Teeth
Dir: Rachel Matthews 2001 UK 10mins

Danny is in love with Serena but his hideously rotten teeth mean she won't give him a second glance. When a mad dentist covers his teeth in silver his world is changed; Danny's metal incisors start picking up radio signals - the shipping forecast, afternoon plays, the latest disco music - and he becomes the most popular boy in the school. However, Danny discovers celebrity has its own price. Can Serena save him from his new-found fame?

Rob Of The Rovers
Dir: Ashley Horner 2001 UK 10mins

The partnership of Michael Mitchell and Ashley Horner has been working in the region since 1999. Their first feature Another Girl, Another Planet shoots in 2003. Here is a chance to catch one of their short works that have taken the company from their start-up to their first feature, the brilliant Rob Of The Rovers. Welcome to a day in the life of Rob Meadows, a sports teacher at a local comp and a wreck of a man. By turns hilarious and tragic, Rob's life is revealed in ten minute's action every bit as telling as an episode of The Office; with Gary Lewis of Billy Elliot fame in the lead role and Gavin William's razor-sharp script delivered by the "child" inside Rob's Head.
