One of Britain's most imaginative filmmakers is to be the special guest of Keswick Film Club at their Fourth Keswick Film Festival, 14 - 16 February next year at Theatre by the Lake and The Alhambra Cinema. Nicolas Roeg will come to Keswick as part of a retrospective of his work, and in addition to introducing each of his six films he will be interviewed onstage at Theatre by the Lake. The six films directed by Nic Roeg to be shown at the Festival are:
The Festival will include the best short and feature-length films from around the world, as well as hit films such as Jane Campion's The Piano and Apocalypse Now Redux.
Generous support from both Booths Supermarkets and Allerdale Community Fund has allowed the Film Club to attract such a prominent director to the town.
The Film Club's Sunday shows are now taking their Christmas break from the Alhambra after last week's screening of Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner, but will return with 15 new films in the New Year, starting with John Sayles' Sunshine State on 12 January. With well over thirty of the best international cinema releases coming to the town between January and Easter, 2003 is set to be a busy time for Keswick film lovers.
